I loved the Killer Films blog and wanted to respond, but I couldn't figure out how to do that on their site. So here we are (I should comment more here anyway)!
What I wanted to say was thank you for writing that and saying those things. If I thought for a second that it mattered what camera I was using, I would never have made a movie ever ever. I have seen great films shot on cheap gear and shit films shot on great gear. When you say it's what's in FRONT of the camera that matters - this is exactly how I have always felt. Way back when we did "PsychoVixens", I had several other film makers write me to ask what we shot on. It was a Sony Handycam I bought at Target using money I earned in a medical study. I told them it's amazing what you can do if you take time to use a tripod and aim a light at your actors. Since then, I've made movies on cell phones, pocket HD, iPod, all sorts of stuff (and I COMPLETED them, too). We're in an exciting time where there is so much out there and so many options, but the cream will rise to the top just like any other era. People are looking for originality, they are hungry for alternatives. Be true to yourself and tell your stories and you can't lose.
